Bridal Crown

Bridal crown made for Women of ______ (A Song Not Song) . The crown is a wire frame hat on a stiffened fosshape base. Inspired by traditional fabrication practices for Chinese Opera headdresses, the points are made from cardboard stiffened with glue and painted with acrylic paint. The flowers are all custom painted as well as the front panel. The jeweled beads in the front are cast plastic from a silicone mold.

The project was completed through University of Texas at Austin class “Millinery” in collaboration with the Department of Theater and Dance’s fall production and costume designer Delena Bradley. The assigned project consisted of taking a basic sketch of the hat silhouette and using found materials to add detail and texture. The project was completed using only materials available on hand - broken jewelry, fabric scraps, artificial flowers, and a class supply of millinery wire and fosshape.
